The Vibe: London's award winning Signor Sassi has arrived in Bangkok. Located on the 37th floor of the Anantara Sathorn, Signor Sassi Bangkok is committed to delivering the same first class style and service that guests enjoy in their other international locations. With seating for up to 100 guests, you can enjoy the spectacular city view while dining al fresco or sit inside the elegant main dining room where you are regaled by a musical duo of cello and guitar. There is also a private walk-in wine vault that offers exclusive wines from some of the best vineyards in Italy. Signori Sassi will appeal to executives and business types as well as couples looking for special occasion dining.
What To Eat & Drink: Start off with a glass of sparkling wine like the N.V. Zonin Prosecco Brut accompanied with a signature starter like the Avocado Bernardo which is avocado with lobster, scampi, prawns and a creamy pink sauce. Also try succulent Sea Scallops with Garlic, Butter & Bread Crumbs and the classic Baked Eggplant w/Parmesan Cheese, Mozzarella & Tomato Sauce. Don’t miss their famous Spaghetti Lobster and their homemade Egg Tagliolini w/Butter, Bacon & White Alba Truffles which is pure unadulterated pleasure. For a main course we recommend the succulent Rack of Lamb with Red Wine & Aromatic Herbs and a full bodied glass of Beni di Batasiolo Barbera d'Asti Sabri 2008. Another standout is the tender Beef Medallions Wrapped in Parma Ham in Cream & Truffle Sauce. When served with the Sautéed Mushrooms with White Wine, Garlic & Chili it is an unexpected explosion of complementary flavors. You may also want to try one of their many Grappas’ (alcohol made from the stems, pulp or seeds of the grapes). We enjoyed the clear A Sud Delle Nuvole grappa and the amber colored Grappa Deja Spress. Be sure to end the meal with a formidable cup of flambéed Italian Coffee with Amaretto, Shaved Almonds and Chocolate which is served tableside with much fanfare.
Insider Insights: Open daily for lunch and dinner, Signor Sassi lives up to its stellar reputation by offering delectable Italian cuisine, unique ambience and world class service. They have kept about 90% of the menu the same as it is in London and they import most of their ingredients. The wine cellar is impressive and they have a knowledgeable sommelier on hand. Expect to pay top dollar for the experience, but this is the place you go when you want to impress and not compromise on service.
