Located on 1 Sukhumvit Soi 14, Los Cabos is easy to find as it is just a block away from the Asoke BTS station and the Sukhumvit MRT station. Los Cabos California Mexican Grill brings an exciting new venue to the Bangkok food scene.
If you want to get more bang for your buck, you have got to visit Los Cabos and try their “9 Meals for 99 Baht Special” which is available Mon-Fri between the hours of 1400-1900. It works really great in conjunction with the Happy Hour in which most drinks are under 95 Baht, and jugs of Margaritas and Daiquiris are priced at only 295Baht . Items found on the 99 Baht menu include: 1/4 pound Jalapeño Cheeseburger, Crispy Calamari Tostada, 3 soft Baja Fish Tacos, Carnita's Style Duck Leg, Guacamole & Chips, Grilled Mushroom, Asparagus & Corn salad, BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich, Grilled Sirloin Chili and Churros & Chocolate.
Los Cabos California Mexican Grill is the perfect place to go and meet up with friends and have a few drinks. The restaurant itself is impressive in size, as it is a large 2 story wooden house that boasts a cheerful color palate of canary yellow, lime green and sea foam blue and a quaint mix of tropical plants, piñata’s and surfboards. There is a well stocked bar with an LCD flat screen on which American football games are regularly shown, several decks with outside eating areas and a lovely garden area with a beautiful fountain. The entire vibe of the restaurant is fun and inviting and instantly makes you feel as if you can let down your hair, kick back, and enjoy yourself.
The menu is not too big and offers typical Mexican fare such as tacos, burritos, enchiladas, tamales, hamburgers, a variety of grilled meats and fish entrees, as well as a few more creative entrees and starters. Los Cabos managing director Robb Vaughn is a trained chef and is the brainchild behind the menu. The Crispy Mini Tacos (150Baht) was an “A-typical” dish as it features shredded beef, avocado, pomello, and salsa. It had good flavor and was fun to eat. The Steak Taco and Chicken Enchilada Combo Meal (295Baht) was average as it was rather salty and a bit acidic. The portion sizes are good, and the service was also good, and the restaurant has on-premise bathrooms upstairs and downstairs for your convenience.
“We are looking to add some lighter and fresher dishes to the menu” Mr. Vaughn stated as he pointed out that Los Cabos is planning on introducing some new items to the menu within the next few weeks. Some of the new dishes to be added include a Lobster Tail and Filet Mignon priced at 495Baht each, Angel Hair Pasta Vera Cruz priced between 175-295Baht and a Carnita’s Style Crispy Duck Leg priced at 295Baht.
The food quality is average, and on par with most other Bangkok Mexican eateries, but if you take advantage of the food and drink specials you can have a really nice time without having to spend too much money.
