Bangkok is has with a wealth of hang out spots offering delicious food, atmosphere, and an overall good time. Larry’s Dive , located at 8 Sukhumvit Soi 22, embodies those qualities and more. Located between the BTS stops of Asok and Phrom Phong, Larry’s Dive is close to Emporium shopping center and only minutes away from the heart of the Bangkok. It is open from 1100 to 0100. Larry’s is a sports bar with a beach theme which offers Mexican and American food fresh from the grill.

The décor is playful and entertaining, with beach paraphernalia and witty Larryisms on the menu and all over the walls. Although this is inviting for some, it is not necessarily the best choice for a family outing. Larry’s boasts a wide array of sports programming so that you can catch the latest football match, NBA game, grand slam golf event, or Grand Prix race on a large screen TV. There are two pool tables upstairs, free wi-fi, always good music, and a staff that is entertaining and attentive. All of this makes for a good time and when you throw in the bar’s choice of on-tap ales, alcohol served in a bucket, and exotic cocktails, it doesn’t get much better for hanging out with the guys. Of course, having fun can really work up an appetite and the menu should leave you satisfied.

Larry’s Dive offers Mexican food, steak and seafood, an all-day breakfast menu, gourmet burgers, BBQ fair, starters, desserts, and Thai food. The food from the grill distinguishes Larry’s menu and the sandwiches are a safe bet. A good starting point is an order of the delicious stuffed jalapeno poppers (150-170baht). A big surprise, and a bit of a secret, is the Rueben sandwich (275baht), which is mouth-wateringly good. The BBQ pork ribs are to die for. They can be ordered as “original” (delicious-395baht) or “ultimate” (a drier, spicier version of the original-385baht). The Mexican food is satisfying, but doesn’t compare well to some of Bangkok’s better Mexican restaurants. Of these offerings, the Mucho Macho nachos (275baht) are a feast and a real crowd pleaser with a bucket of beer. Breakfast is never a problem, it is served all day! The breakfast offerings are typical and economical, on average less than 200baht. If you are looking for Thai fare, it is good, but not as inspiring as the other menu options and the desert selection may leave you a little cold as well. Larry’s Dive offers nightly drink specials, big screen sports events, satisfying food, and a good time for a great guys’ night out.
